Follow these simple steps to apply for admission to UMU.

Make sure you meet the requirements before applying.

  •  Bachelors Applicants – Minimum of Two (2) Principal Passes in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting, or its equivalent. Diploma holders with at least a Credit or 2nd Class are also invited to apply for Bachelor Programmes. For all those applying for distance learning, relevant certified Academic Documents are required. Holders of Higher Education Access Programme with atleast a credit.
  •  Diploma Applicants – Minimum requirement is One (1) Principal Pass and two (2) Subsidiary Passes in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education obtained in the subjects relevant to the programme applied for, or Certificate holders with at least a Credit or 2nd Class in related field. And should have obtained at least Five (5) Passes in the Uganda Certificate of Education at one sitting or its equivalent.
  •  Certificate Applicants – Candidates should have obtained Five (5) Passes in the Uganda Certificate of Education or an equivalent at the same sitting.
  •  Higher Education Certificate – UCE or its equivalent, UACE with atleast One (1) Principal Pass and two (2) Subsidiary Passes obtained in principle subjects or its equivalent.
  • PhD Applicants – At least a Master’s degree in a relevant area from a Chartered University or in exceptional circumstances, professional qualifications in a related field will be required, and a research concept note of about 8 pages giving an insight of the intended research to be undertaken.
     Masters Applicants – At least a Second Class Honours degree from recognized Institutions in a relevant field or in exceptional circumstances, professional qualifications will be required. Candidates are required to pass the UMU Graduate Admission Test (GAT) and have at least two years of working experience in the relevant field.
