Faculty of the Built Environment (FOBE)

The Faculty of the Built Environment is a multidisciplinary Faculty of Uganda Martyrs University, offering environmentally conscious design programmes across Building Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design and Building Technology.

The main thrust of the Faculty consists in educating responsible professionals who contribute to cultural and socio-economic development across East Africa and the global community, through the flagship Bachelor of Environmental Design programme leading into the Master of Architecture (Professional), preparing graduates to design, construct and interpret the built environment.

The Faculty aspires to be at the cutting edge of built environment education and scholarship in sub-Saharan Africa, comprising a community of scholars, lecturers and students whose research and creative work transform the practice of architecture and design. Emphasis is placed on sustainability, cultural heritage, and critical systems thinking in developing solutions today.

As a research and teaching institution of Uganda Martyrs University, the Faculty was established to advance knowledge in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture and environmental design, connecting academic study with practice and industry across the region’s built environment sector.

The Faculty of the Built Environment is offered at Main Campus Nkozi, training architects and designers across Environmental Design and Professional Architecture programmes today.
