To all our esteemed Guests thank you for visiting Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Website.
I am delighted to welcome you to the Premier Catholic University in Uganda, founded by the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), as a not-for-profit private University that is recognized for offering quality higher education and a holistic development of our graduates.
We are proud of the fact that since 18th October 1993 when Uganda Martyrs University officially opened, it has never had a strike in any of its campuses at Nkozi, Lubaga, Nsambya, Masaka, Fortportal, Kabale, Mbale and Ngetta besides having graduates that are benchmarked by most employers across the region.
Given its strategic location at the Equator “the centre of the World,” Uganda Martyrs University has become a household name across East Africa, the COMESA region and beyond where the name UMU is synonymous with quality education, high ethical values and a University with the greenest campus in Uganda.
As you browse through the pages of this website, you will come to terms with the fact that there are numerous projects and activities that have helped train our students into job creators rather than job seekers.
At UMU, it is not just academics but a training of the body, mind and soul through a combination of various sports activities, cultural galas, exhibitions, open days, public lectures, student tours, business forums and student politics, which expose our students to a world of innovation and creativity.
For the time I have spent at UMU, I continue to be impressed with the focus, drive, and the intellectual curiosity of our students. The fact that they also find time to plan and conduct original research is a testimony to their dedication to make the most out of their time here at the University and to be active contributors to the body of knowledge created by our academic community.
