UMU STAFF & STUDENTS COMMENDED FOR THE GOOD TEAM SPIRIT
Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) staff and students have been commended for the good team spirit that was exhibited during the just concluded 28th Graduation Ceremony which made the event a success. A total of 1516 students graduated in different disciplines on 18th November 2022 in an event that was held under the theme: Agility, Flexibility and Creativity towards Transformational Change.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Edrin Kyamanywa made the remarks during the graduation evaluation get together which was held at the Main Campus Nkozi. He also appreciated the UMU community for keeping the good culture of evaluating events.
“The lessons learnt from the previous graduation will be a guide for the 29th Graduation Ceremony which will be held on the same day of 18th October 2023 when UMU will be celebrating 30 years of excellence,” he revealed.
The Vice Chancellor who is also marking one year of service at UMU tasked the academic staff and everyone concerned to ensure that marks for the final year students are forwarded early to the Senate for consideration to enable processes move faster since their graduation will be coming a month early than usual.
Prof. Kyamanywa was also optimistic that by the time of the next graduation and celebration of UMU@30, the ongoing construction of the Law block will be complete.
“We have promised ourselves as Management to unveil the Law Building during the UMU@30 anniversary celebrations,” he prayed.
He also tasked the Registry department to publish a Functions Organisation Manual which will work as a guide for all UMU events to reduce on the stress that comes with preparation of functions.
The evaluation meeting which began with the presentation of reports from various subcommittees in the morning, was concluded with the cutting and sharing of the cake in the evening at the staff pub as a sign of appreciation to everyone that participated in the event.
