Uganda Martyrs University Staff have been applauded for their exemplary service that has managed to keep this institution afloat despite the challenges of COVID -19.
The new Vice Chancellor Prof. Patrick Edrin Kyamanywa applauded staff during their get together end of year party that was held today 17th December 2021 at the Main Campus Nkozi.
He highlighted that getting together in such way reflects the spirit of team work, commitment and a time to know each other.
“Thank you for sustaining this institution as members of staff, it is really very exemplary,” he noted.
As a new leader of UMU, he emphasized issues of capacity building, customer care, agility, flexibility, adaptability, creativity and innovativeness in order to remain relevant in these changing times.
He also reechoed the spirit of working together and challenged them to perform beyond their expectations.
“I know everyone has this institution at heart, but if we play as a team, I assure you that this boat will not sink,” Prof. Kyamanywa added.
The President of Uganda Martyrs University Staff Association (UMUSA), David Busobozi urged staff to improve on their customer care in all they do and acknowledged that although there has been a lot of improvement in this area, much effort is still needed.
“Let us continuously be proud of our University by promoting its name and upholding the values of transparency, accountability, reliability and quality,” he requested.
He also reminded staff to continuously cherish the Martyrs of Uganda to whom UMU is named after.
Busobozi reaffirmed, “I have personally reflected on how the Martyrs of Uganda have protected UMU in good and bad times and those who know, they know!”
He called upon fellow staff members to rally behind the new VC in the next year 2022 and beyond and take the University to the next level.
There was a lot of Merry making, while staff who have served UMU for 10 years and above were recognized in a special way.
